About the Authors



DR SITI AISHAH HASSAN
Dr. Siti Aishah Hassan completed her high school at Penang Science Secondary School at Bukit Mertajam, Penang. She holds her doctoral and master degrees from International Islamic University Malaysia. She graduated with bachelor of art in Chemistry from University of Missouri St. Louis, USA. She has been a lecturer at the Department of Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology at Faculty of Educational Studies, Universiti Putra Malaysia since August 2006. 

Now, she is a senior lecturer at Department of Counselor and Counseling Psychology, UPM. She is a registered and licensed counselor of Malaysian Counselor Council with specialization in marital and family counseling. She is an expert in application of Structural Equation Modeling (SEM-AMOS) and a principal consultant of Quty Consult.  

Dr. Siti Aishah is a committee member of Women Fedaration of World peace (WFWP). She is also member of Asian Psychological Association and Education Counselor Asia-Pacific (APECA), Asia Psychological Association (APsyA), Malaysian Counselor Association (PERKAMA) and SPSS Users� Association of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. Her conference proceedings, publications and current research interests are on Islamic psycho-spiritual counseling, maternal quality time, and sexual involvement among teenagers, marriage, polygamy and divorce.

To date, there have been 7 Ph.D students graduated under her supervision. She was the major supervisor for 4 of them and co-supervisor for 3 of them.

DR. RUZIAH GHAZALI

Dr Ruziah Ghazali completed her high school at Sekolah Menengah Tunku Besar Tampin, Negeri Sembilan. After passing her Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM), she continued her studies at Universiti Malaya where she graduated in Bachelor of Arts majoring in Islamic Studies in July 1986.

At that particular year, Malaysia experienced an economic down turn. As it was difficult to get a job in her field, she decided to work as a temporary teacher. She worked at a private Islamic primary school in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan for six months.  After that she worked under the Skim Khidmat Sambilan (SKS) for jobless graduates for almost three years (until 1989) at the Tampin Land Office, Tampin, Negeri Sembilan. During these three years she also enhanced herself with weekly spiritual learning in tasauf from a learned religious teacher in Tampin.

Then, she accepted an offer from the government to join an intensive entrepreneur program as Tax Agent conducted by Universiti Institut Teknologi MARA (UiTM) for six months. She later did an internship at the Inland Revenue Board for three months and did her practical for one month at the tax agent’s office. At the end of the course she got her Certificate in Accounting and Taxation on October 1990 and became a licensed tax agent.

From Mei 1998 to December 1999, she pursued her graduates degree at Universiti Putra Malaysia. She graduated with a Masters of Science in Education specializing in Human Resource Development. She later enrolled in May 2000 at Universiti Putra Malaysia to pursue her Doctor of Philosophy degree in the field of Extension Education specializing in Training Management, in the Department of Professional Development and Continuing Education, Faculty of Educational Studies.

In the career aspect, upon receiving her tax agent license, she started her own business in February 1991 in Kuala Lumpur. Her company provided business services such as  Accounting, Taxation, Business Management and Secretarial Services. In the early stage of her business she also attended the course for secretarial services and in 1993 she got her license as company secretary.

She is actively involved in various public and charitable organizations. Such as holding the position of Secretary General of Malaysian Association of Tax Accountant since 1991. Since continuing her graduate studies she has relinquished her position as secretary general although she still remains a board member until present. Between 2001 – 2003, she was a committee member of Dewan Perdagangan Islam Wilayah Persekutuan but had to resign to undertake her doctoral thesis. Since 1996 to 2001 she was an Assistant Secretary General of Yayasan Pembangunan Generasi FELDA Malaysia. She has since stepped down to pursue her PhD but still maintain her position as a member of the executive committee.

She has been a motivator and counselor to various programs such as community development, leadership, business and organization management, children education, parenting and entrepreneur development since 1992 organized by various government agencies, private organizations and student bodies in Malaysia and overseas; United Kingdom (1996) and USA (1993 & 1997) .

Upon receiving her Masters Degree she has been actively involved in community development and human resource training in many private and government organizations. She also participated as panelist in many forums discussing a varied of issues organized by different government agencies, private organizations, and social & welfare bodies  such as JAKIM, LUTH, PUNB, MPPJ, MPAJ, Telekom, Defense Ministry, JAIS, institutions of higher learning (UM, UPSI, USM, UKM, UPM, UTM, UiTM, & UIAM) and public & private schools throughout Malaysia since 1998 until present.

She has also been invited as guest and speaker on issues of the fairer sex such as guests of Women’s Mind, Nona, TV1, TV3, Wanita Hari Ini, and guests of magazines and newspaper such as Mingguan Wanita, Muslimah, Nur, Berita Minggu and Buletin Utama. She also writes articles on various topics for local newspapers and magazines. Such was a guest writer for a local women’s entrepreneur monthly magazine, Nur and guest writer for a family education column in a local weekly newspaper. Since 1990 until present she has been involved in writing articles, speeches, and presented papers and proposals at different levels for different organizations; public and private bodies.

She is also a consultant in human resource for major corporations (Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, Pos Malaysia Berhad, PKNS, Lembaga Zakat Selangor, FELDA, PENJARA, INSKEN ) and is an advocate in women’s issues and does counselling and motivational work for single mothers, troubled youth, and personal development.
She is also involved in various government researches. Between (2004 – 2006) she was the head researcher in the government research on the quality of life of FELDA settlers. She was involved in preparing the census questionnaires, training of census takers & their supervisors, analyzing, preparing, and publishing the final report of the study for presentation to FELDA and the Honorable Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia. Between 2005 – 2006 she was the lead consultant to develop 10 training module standards for the Selangor Zakat Board. In 2003 she had done analysis and research on the placement of teachers in schools of Orang Asli settlements organized by the Jabatan Hal Ehwal Orang Asli (JHEOA). She was also involved in the program evaluation and usage of information technology amongst officers of Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur.
From 1995 to 2005 she had also received various awards for her commitment in assisting the development and placement of woman in society such as Finalist Anugerah Tokoh Ilmuwan Selangor 2010,  Exco Pendidikan, Pendidikan Tinggi, Pembangunan Modal Insan Selangor, Voluntary Associate Prof Under Agit Gifted Institute Of Technology John Alwyn Gifted Varsity, London, UK, 2007
Tokoh Srikandi from Kolej 11, Universiti Putra Malaysia, in 2002 she received the award for Tokoh Usahawan Wanita Islam by Sepakat Usahawan Jaya Berhad, in 1999 she was a finalist for the Anugerah Trofi Sri Nona organized by TV3, and in 1995 she received the Tokoh Aktivis Wanita Islam award from Persatuan Siswazah Islam, Universiti Malaya.
